Frequently asked questions
How does Auto-fill work?
Open a quilt, attach your pattern as a PDF or as photos of the pages, and tap Auto-fill from Pattern. Choose the size you're making, review what was found, and tap Add. Always check the results against your pattern before cutting.
Is my pattern shared with anyone?
No. Your pattern is read only to fill in your own quilt. It's sent to Claude, an AI by Anthropic, only after you give permission, and it's never shared with other Patchwise users. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Auto-fill says I've reached my limit.
Auto-fill has a monthly fair-use limit, and it resets on the 1st of each month. Patterns you've already read are saved in your Pattern Library, so starting another quilt from the same pattern fills in for free.
Auto-fill got something wrong.
You can edit any fabric, cut, or step after adding it. Patterns with unusual layouts or blurry photos are harder to read, so a clear PDF works best. If a pattern keeps reading incorrectly, email us the pattern name and what went wrong.
Can I turn off the AI features?
Yes. Go to Settings → AI Features. Everything else in Patchwise works without them.
How do I move my quilts in from another app?
Go to Settings → Coming From Another App. You can import a spreadsheet (CSV), paste a list, add finished quilts from photos, read screenshots of your old app, or import many pattern PDFs at once.
How do I back up or export my data?
Go to Settings → Export My Data to save your quilts, fabrics, stash, patterns, and supplies as spreadsheet files.
How do I delete my data?
Your quilts are stored on your iPhone, so deleting the app deletes them. Export first if you want to keep a copy. If you have a Patchwise account, you can delete it in the app's Settings, or email us and we'll delete it for you.
Reminders aren't showing up.
Check that Settings → Reminders is on in Patchwise, and that notifications are allowed in the iPhone Settings app under Notifications → Patchwise.
